Our Carbon Reduction Plan
Our journey is a work in progress but we want to be transparent about our approach and the work we are doing to reduce our carbon footprint.
Our Carbon Reduction Plan April 2023 - March 2024
Introduction
At Scar Erase, we are excited to announce the beginning of our journey toward sustainability. We recognize the importance of reducing our carbon footprint and resource consumption, and we are committed to incorporating eco-friendly practices into every aspect of our operations. Our Carbon Reduction Plan outlines our aspirations and the steps we intend to take as we embark on this important mission.
Our Commitment to Sustainability
- Sustainable Materials and Production
As we start our journey, our plans include prioritizing renewable, plant-based ingredients in our product formulations. We are dedicated to exploring energy-efficient suppliers that will help us minimize our energy consumption and emissions.
- Innovative Packaging Solutions
We recognize the need to reduce single-use plastics in our products and packaging. To address this, we will explore recyclable, biodegradable, and compostable materials, including bioplastics. Our goal is to develop packaging solutions that minimize plastic use while incorporating recycled materials.
- Embracing Circular Economy Practices
Our commitment to sustainability includes focusing on reusable products. For instance, our silicone strips are designed to be reused for up to two weeks, promoting longer lifespans and reducing waste. We are also looking into initiatives for the recovery and reuse of healthcare plastics, contributing to a circular economy.
Whole Life Analysis and Lifecycle Assessment
We plan to integrate Whole Life Analysis into our product development processes to assess and minimize environmental impacts throughout each product's lifecycle. Through ongoing Life Cycle Assessments, we will ensure our products are designed with sustainability in mind, from production to disposal.
Engaging with Our Supply Chain
As part of our journey, we will actively engage with our suppliers to support and encourage their efforts in reducing carbon emissions. We aim to assess the carbon footprint across our supply chain, prioritizing partnerships with suppliers who implement sustainable practices.
Logistics Optimization
We will explore opportunities to enhance efficiencies in logistics and transportation to further reduce our overall carbon footprint.
Carbon Offsetting Strategy
To complement our reduction efforts, we are considering participation in verified carbon offset projects, such as reforestation and renewable energy initiatives. Our aim is to work towards achieving net-zero emissions by 2035. Ahead of the government Net Zero target of 2050.
Continuous Improvement
Understanding that assessing a product's full environmental impact is complex, we are committed to continuous improvement. We will regularly review and update our sustainability practices based on the latest research and technological advancements.
Commitment to Ethical Practices
We believe that ethical practices are integral to sustainability. We will conduct thorough checks on our suppliers to ensure they meet our standards regarding labour conditions and modern slavery. This will be carried out by an independent third-party compliance officer.
Reporting and Transparency
As we begin this journey, we are committed to transparency. We plan to publish our Carbon Reduction Plan by January 2025, detailing our current emissions and strategies for future reductions. Our estimated carbon emissions for the period from April 2023 to March 2024 are 46.8 tonnes CO₂e (Scope 3 only), and we will continue to identify opportunities for further reductions.
Conclusion
At Scar Erase, we are dedicated to making meaningful strides toward sustainability. Our Carbon Reduction Plan reflects our commitment to developing high-quality, eco-friendly products that benefit both our customers and the planet.
